Holy #$$%$ I met...
Hey Everyone,
Living in Los Angeles it’s not uncommon to see celebrities. I’ve stood in line at Starbucks behind Heidi Klum, sat diagonally across from Larry David at a restaurant, etc. I’ve never gone up to one in public, let along ask for a picture… until now!
The other day I dropped my son off and made a quick stop at the grocery store to grab some chips. And you know who else was in the chips aisle…
John Woo! The greatest action director of all time! The Killer! Hard Boiled! A Better Tomorrow! I first discovered Woo when I was around 13 and was absolutely blown away. I’d never seen anything like it up to that point. I mean, I’d seen a million action films by that point (I saw Rambo at 7. I got an early start), but nothing like the Killer. Credit goes to Woo’s direction, but also the king of cool, Chow Yun Fat. I’ve been a lifelong fan of both ever since. So yeah, that was pretty cool!
On to other things… Next week, I have a small one day show next week in Anaheim. If you’re in the area come say hi.
The Kickstarter for Blood of the Matador #1 has just about a week left in its run. We’re trying to hit our 2nd stretch goal for a sticker. By now I think you all know the drill. You can pledge your support here:
Speaking of Monster Matador, Fabio is currently wrapping up the art on the 2nd issue. Lots of surprises in store for that one. Right now we’re looking to launch that one in January.
Our second book next year is going to be a horror themed one shot. This is going to feature an all new character and is completely separate from the Monster Matador universe. More detail on this soon. The artist is already lined up and is working on layouts. The plan is to do a one shot featuring this character once a year. Each will be self-contained but will also fit together as a larger story similar to what I’ve done with Monster Matador. The plan is to launch that in March.
And while I haven’t planned that far ahead yet, I’m pretty sure issue 3 of Blood of the Matador will drop in July, which will wrap up our 2026 schedule of books.
Gotta get back to work!
Have a great weekend,
Steve
